POINT OF CHANGE
The project consists of a short film, a feature-length documentary and a program for positive change at the Point in Nias.
SHORT FILM - CHANGING POINT
Story of Bonne Gea's journey growing up in a humble Muslim village on the island of Nias to becoming the first female Indonesian Champion surfer. Her home in Lagundri Bay was changed forever by the arrival of surfers in the 1970's. We travel home with Bonne to meet her family and friends and learn about the dramatic changes that took place at the Point to prepare the path for Bonne to trailblaze her way to become a champion.
FEATURE FILM - POINT OF CHANGE
The journey to make this film led to us uncovering fascinating true stories from the first days of surfing on Nias. In this film we travel through time and revisit the meglithic island of long ago, taking a journey through the discovery of the bay by the first surfing pioneers in the '70's and looking at the dramatic changes the point has seen since that time, until today.
Changing Point Program consists of community and conservation projects on Nias island. We are currently supporting the Nias Surf Club and a breeding programme for the endangered Nias Hill Mynah focused on protecting this precious bird from extinction.
